Happy Birthday Harry!

In honor of Harry Potter's birthday today, we have the results of Butterbeer Taste Test 2009! We created and tasted 7 recipes total, some tasty...some not so much. There were 4 categories to score each concoction on a scale from 0-10 owls: sight, smell, taste and canon (trueness to how the books/movies portrayed the drink).

Runner-up: The Chocolatey-Brown One

While scoring high marks in smell (9 owls) and taste (9 owls and a baby), it did not have an appealing sight score (3) or canon (5), due to it's cocoa nature. This drink scored the highest of all warm drinks we tasted, and a great second place finisher.

The winner: Fizzy Temptation

This cocktail was the clear winner, with a score of 9 owls in sight, 7 in smell, 10 in taste, and 8 in canon (only because it was a cold beverage).
We would have finished the entire pitcher had we not been so sweeted-out. The recipe was found here.

Alice and Kev Review - 7.24.09

If you haven't heard of Alice and Kev, head on over to check it out. It's a Sims blog about two characters that are homeless and... quirky. Definitely worth a few minutes to visit.

This is a (belated) review of Friday's post, A sofa is still better than a bench. First of all, I'm shocked and so happy that Alice hasn't broken anything at Zedadias's lately. In other news, Shirley is lame. Shirley and Zedadias may both enjoy making crazy faces, but she just seems mean (could it be the pointing and menacing snarls? I think so.). And is there really a reason to wear a flower in your hair if you are not on a tropical vacation? Negative.

Maybe Alice will make more friends at her next visit to the warehouse library.

"Do a dollop..."

I love sour cream. Not only is it a great source of calcium and Vitamin A (I will admit that I googled that), but you also get an inspirational thought if you buy a certain brand. It tastes great on baked potatoes and pretty much all Mexican food, and even comes in varying degrees of fat content to choose from.

What I do not love is the gross liquid puddles that form after the first time you use it. I would like to share with you an easy way to stop this from happening. When you are done getting your sour cream portion, use the back of the spoon to smooth it back down flat in the container. Replace lid and enjoy a lack of liquid next time you use it. May seem simple, but I was surprised how many people do not do this. Take care until next time!

Best Candle Ever

Jarrett's sister just came by and gifted me with the best smelling candle in the world. The scent is Diva by Tyler Candle Company. My house smells so wonderful right now. She bought it in Tyler, Texas but you can get them anywhere online. I think their official website is going to be www.tylercandles.com.


Blizzard's authentication server for WOW is down right now. I would normally be really sad, but my house smells like a spa.
